Welcome . . . .
to the Burton-upon-Trent Model Engineering Society Website
We are a group of
model engineering enthusiasts that meet at our clubhouse and grounds
in Burton-upon-Trent, Staffordshire. Our Society
was founded in 1947 and has celebrated its 60 year anniversary
in
2007. Thanks to the efforts of dedicated members our tracks and facilities have been continuously developed and
expanded.
The main interest represented within the Society is the steam railway locomotive, although members
interests cover the full spectrum of model engineering activites.
Our
facilities provide the
following trackwork :- A raised level track of 800
feet, for 3 1/2 and 5 inch gauges. The minimum radius of
curves is 42 feet. The ground level track is suitable for 5 inch. and 7 1/4 inch gauges
with associated pointwork, a turntable, and access points. Both the
raised level and ground level tracks have their own steaming bays.
We also have a portable track which is available for use at Garden
Fetes and other public events.
Our facilities include a clubhouse with kitchen facilities and our grounds have ample car parking.
Regular 'Steam Ups' are held during the year, and our members enjoy visits
to other Midlands based club tracks. New projects are
being considered to further improve the site and facilities
available to members and visiting societies. We are
always looking to attract new members, so if you are interested in joining
our small, friendly Society, please contact us and arrange to come along
to one of our meetings. To contact our
Society, please use the 'CONTACT US' page or email link . . . We hope you
enjoy your visit to our Website.
